Passt hier überhaupt nicht rein. Ist unkonsequent, weil ich gesagt habe, dass ich im Urlaub nix poste. Aber egal.
Hmm... 0:2 für Spanien und ich feiere die Chilenen dafür, dass sie es ihnen gezeigt haben. Doch, ich finde es großartig, dass die Spanier so was von abrutschen. Selber schuld. Oder? Denn es geschah so passend, dass ich mich fast frage, ob Sepp Blatter im Hintergrund die Fäden zieht und nach Art einer Haifischmade Smeik die Lügengladiatoren... äh,  also die Spanier dazu getrieben hat, absichtlich zu verlieren. Und die Spanier hatten einfach viel weniger Courage als der Käpt'n Blaubär und haben gekuscht...
Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass ein zweifacher Europameister und Weltmeister wenig Reformfreude zeigt? Oder dass die Chilenen eine gut gedeckt haben und den Spaniern keinen Platz gelassen haben? Oder wollte der Sepp, dass sie das so machen? Hmm... was wäre wenn?

Ich bin dann mal weg... /I'm right off then...

Okay, hier wollte ich eigentlich schreiben, ob ich des Wahnsinns bin, mir schon wieder so viele Bücher anzuschaffen, mit einem großen schönen Foto von meinen Neuzugängen und worum's dabei geht und so weiter, das übliche Gedüdel, dass auf jedem Buchblog immer wieder so heiß diskutiert wird... aber lassen wir das. Erstens werdet ihr die Bücher in den Rezensionen eh kennelernen ;) Zweitens muss ich mich verabschieden. Für etwa zwei Wochen kann ich nicht posten. Diese Woche gehe ich auf ein Jugendcamp, nächste fahren wir nach Rom. Uaah... dann wird's noch heißer. Wobei ich trotz dieser Hitze einen furchtbaren Schnupfen habe, weshalb ich mich frage, ob das ein Heuschnupfen ist oder ob ich mich beim Schwimmen erkältet habe. Wie auch immer, Urlaub und ähnliches bedeutet für mich immer offline und deshalb bin ich auch nicht zu erreichen. Mein Laptop kommt mit, aber nur zum Schreiben. So, schöne Pfingstferien und frischen Mut für alle, die leider nicht damit rechnen können...

Okay, actually I wanted to wonder whether I'm crazy to buy again so many books, with a big image of my new books and what they're about and so on, the usual fuss that's so hotly debated on every bookblog, but let that aside. Firstly you'll get to know the books in my reviews anyway ;) Secondly I have to say goodbye for a while. For about two weeks I can't post here. This week I'm going on a youth camp, next we're going to Rome. Ugh... it'll be even more hotter than now. Whereas I've catched in spite of the heat a cold, so I wonder, whether it's a hay fever of if a catched it while swimming. However, Holiday or similar always means offline for me and so I'm not contactable (How that sounds ;). My Laptop will be with me, but only for writing. So, nice pentecost holidays and all others may take courage who can't count on any holiday...

Ja, hatte ich kürzlich nicht noch gesagt, dass ich eher zufällig lese und meine Buchauswahl nicht so sehr nach der Jahreszeit oder bestimmten Ereignissen gerichtet ist? Dieses Buch jedenfalls spielt an Pfingsten...

Saeculum (Lateinfan schlägt zu: Saeculum heißt Jahrhundert, aber das dürften diejenigen, die das Buch gelesen haben schon wissen) ist zwar kein wirklicher Gruselthriller, bei dem man sich alle zwei Minuten umdreht um zu gucken, ob da jemand ist (Was ja ein Kunststück ist, wenn man im Freibad auf der Wiese bei dreißig Grad im Schatten und Sonnenschein liest ;) was aber trotzdem authentisch war, denn die Buch beschriebenen Fliegen hatten es offenbar auch auf mich abgesehen...

Saeculum (Latin fan strikes: Saeculum means century, but those who read the book probably know that) isactually not really a horror thriller, where you turn around every two minues, to look, whether there is somebody (Which really is difficult, when you read in the open air pool with thirty degrees amongst the shades and sunshine ;) but which still was authentic, beause the descripted flies in th book also had it in for me...

Kleine Kalligraphiekunde zwischendrin: Die Schrift auf dem Cover ist gotisch. Nicht Fraktur, nicht Rotunda, sondern eine breite, einfache, gotische Schrift ;) Das war im Hochmittelalter die Schrift, die von der Kirche benutzt wurde.

Small calligraphy inbetween: The script on the cover is Gothic. Not... uhm, looks like the differents scripts they call it in German are all called Gothic in English... what a pity : / Anyway, in the late middle ages it was the script used by the church.

Schon allein das Setting und das Thema, nämlich ein mittelalterliches Rollenspiel im Wald, ohne irgendetwas, das es erst nach dem 14. Jahrhundert in Europa gab, hat mich fasziniert und ich habe mir selbst am Schluss noch gewünscht, ich könnte das auch einmal machen: einfach Sachen zusammenpacken, in den Wald ziehen und für ein paar Tage wie im Mittelalter zu leben, auch wenn das alles andere als Zuckerschlecken ist. Auch wenn dieses Buch das Mittelalter ebenso hinterfragt wie unsere heutige Zeit, es zeigt einem doch, wie viel man hätte, wenn man weniger hätte.

Only the setting and the subject, namely a middle ages roleplay in the woods, without anything that came to Europe after the 14th centure fascinated me and in the end I wished I could also do that: Just pack my stuff, go to the woods and live for a few day like in the middle ages, even though it's anything but a bed of roses. Even though the book questions the middle ages as well as out times, it still shows you, how much you could have, if you had less.

Die Handlung hat einen zwar nicht so sehr an der Nase herumgeführt wie bei Inferno, aber gerade weil sie geradliniger, flüssiger und einfacher war, konnte ich einfach besser mitkommen als bei letzterem, wo alles viel zu schnell über den Haufen geworfen wurde und ich am Ende nicht mehr mitkam. Ich habe den Täter schon verdächtigt, bevor die Hauptfiguren es taten und mich dabei natürlich gefühlt wie Sherlock Holmes, obwohl es wahrscheinlich gar nicht so schwer war, das herauszukriegen. Vielleicht nicht ganz das, was Krimifans wollen, aber für mich hat's auf jeden Fall gereicht. Ich finde, das Buch war irgendwie... sauber. Ohne irgendwelche miesen Ecken, bei denen ich gedacht habe: Was soll das denn jetzt?

 The plot didn't give me a runaround as Inferno did, but just because it was more direct, more fluent and easier I simply came along better as in the other, where everything was messed up to fast and in the end I didn't come along. I already suspected who the culprit was, before the main character did, and of course I felt like Sherlock Holmes, even though it probably wasn't difficult to find out that. Maybe not quite what crime thriller fans want, but fot me it was enough. I think, the book was somehow... clean. Without any worse elbows, where I thought: What's that bout?

Alle Handlungsmotive, alle Gedanken der Figuren waren immer so klar und haben am Ende so einen Sinn ergeben... das war schon beeindruckend. Vor allem die Hauptfiguren, Bastian, Iris und der Täter (Ich verrate jetzt aber nicht, wer das sein soll...) sind alle so logisch und nachvollziehbar, dass sie mich alle schlicht beeindruckt haben. Die menschlichen Abgründe bei den Nebenfiguren waren da eigentlich noch unheimlicher als die Tatsache, dass alles was passiert ist, von langer Hand geplant und außerdem gewollt war.
Alles war, anders als bei "Inferno", eine Geschichte, die auch in der Realität hätte passieren können, die nicht absurd global, sondern sehr konkret und sehr realistisch war und ich hatte nie das Gefühl, dass es nicht auch in echt so passieren könnte, denn es ging nie zu weit, sondern immer gerade dahin, wo ich wusste, dass solche Dinge passieren können. Krank war es natürlich schon, aber auf eine sehr reale Weise.

All reason, all thoughts of the characters where always so clear and in the end made so much sense... that was impressive. Especially the main characters, Bastian, Iris and the culprit (I won't tell who that is...) are so logical and comprehensive, that they simply impressed me. The human abysms in the side characters were in comparison actually even scarier than the fact, that everything that happened was planned from the beginning and also had been wanted.
Everything was, different to "Inferno", a story that could have happened in reality, that wasn't absurdly global, but concrete and realistic and I never had the feeling that it couldn't have happened really, because it never went too far, but always there, where I thought, that such things might happen. Of course it was sick, but in a very real way.

Noch ein paar Sätze zur Liebesgeschichte: (Ja... aber man kommt so schwer an Liebesgeschichten vorbei und ich gebe zu, dass sie die Geschichte immer ein bisschen auflockern.) Sie war diesmal schön natürlich, ohne unnötige Konflikte, hat sich langsam entwickelt und hat gepasst. Sie war zugegeben nicht besonders kompliziert, aber immerhin nicht irgendwie überspitzt.

A few sentences about the love story (yes... but you don't get past love stories and I have to admit, that they always light up the story abit.) Again it was naturally without any needless conflicts, developed slowly and it fitted. I admit it was not really complicated, but at least not exaggerated.

Die Atmosphäre, die zwischendrin geherrscht hat, war tatsächlich irgendwie mittelalterlich und ja, ich habe es geliebt. Der Schluss war teilweise nicht mehr ganz so sauber (offenbar ist es eine Krimikrankheit, dass die Autoren ab der Stelle, an der der Täter geklärt ist, sich nicht mehr besonders viel Mühe geben.) So, das war's.

The atmosphere that was inbetween was somehow middle age and yes, I loved it. The ending wasn't that clean (it's somehoew a crime thriller disease, that authors don't care about their story anymore, as soon as the culprit is known. That's it.

Übrigens, erinnert ihr euch noch an Mrs. Atika Vaserman? Ich habe mal geguckt, und festgestellt, dass es den Flugzeugabsturz, bei dem ihr Mann angeblich gestorben ist, nur auf Wikipedia gibt. Ich habe zwar den Link nicht mehr, aber laut einer anderen Website steht, dass es laut den Flugplänen der American Airlines diesen Flug nie gab. Da hat sich wohl jemand wahnsinnig Mühe gegeben und den Artikel extra geschrieben...


By the way, do you remember Mrs. Atika Vaserman? I looked it up and recognized, that the flight on which her husband allegedly died never started. I don't have it anymore, but according to another website it's said, that according to the flight schedules of the American Airlines there never was any flight. I suppose somebody exerted himself with a good deal of trouble writing the article...

"Inferno" -Dan Brown

Hmm, was soll man nur sagen? Bei Dan Brown ist das Thema immer ein anderes, aber die Grundhandlung immer dieselbe, genau wie die immer wiederkehrenden Elemente? Jep. Kann man nicht anders sagen.

Hmm, what could one possibly say? With Dan Brown the subject is always another, but the basic plot alway the same as well as all the returning elements? Yep. Can't explain it better.

Wenn ich nicht vorher schon andere Bücher von ihm gelesen hätte, wäre ich vielleicht begeistert gewesen, aber wenn ich ehrlich bin, kann ich einfach nicht sehen, wo denn endlich mal ein bisschen kreative Handlung ist, die von Dan Brown üblichen Muster abweicht. So viel also dazu. Wer die Bücher von ihm kennt, wird nicht weiter nachfragen müssen.

If I hadn't read other books by him, I might have been excited, but honestly I can't see any creative Plot that departs from the usual pattern. So much for that. Whoever knows the books of him, won't need to ask for it.

Das Thema an sich war interessant, denn am Anfang hat es mich richtig zum Gruseln gebracht und wie immer (wie bei jedem anderen Buch von Dan Brown) war das Buch so aufgebaut, dass es ein echter Pageturner war, dass man selbst irgendwie weiterlesen musste was mir zwischendrin auch mal lästig wurde (Ich habe aber diesmal nicht gespickt! Ehrenwort!) sodass ich das Buch einmal abgebrochen habe. Die ungefähre Rollenverteilung war die gleiche und so, dass man sich in Gedanken schon fast alle gleich mal ungefähr zuordnet. Interessanterweise ging es hier mal ausnahmsweise nicht um die Kirche. Puh. Aber das Thema hatte es schon in sich, so dass ich mich zugegebenermaßen ziemlich unwohl beim Lesen dieses Buches gefühlt habe. Unsichtbare Gefahren sind für mich eigentlich immer am gruseligsten, denn man kann sich ja nicht mit den Fäusten oder so wehren. Allerdings war da ein Problem.

The subject itself was interesting, because in the beginning it really scared me and as usual (as in any other book by Dan Brown) the books was written as a real pageturner, that somehow you always have to read on  which inbetween became annoying (I didn't cheat this time! Honestly!) so that I interrupted once. The rough role allocation of the characters was the same as always and in a way that in your mind you already begins sorting them to their role. Interestingly this book wasn't about the church. Phew. But the subject actually is interesting, so I felt uneasy by reading this book. Invisible dangers are always the scariest, because you can't fight them with your hands. But still there was a problem.

In den Thrillern von Dan Brown gibt es immer eine überraschende Wendung. Und wie immer steckte dann immer die Person, der man eigentlich am meisten vertraut hat, plötzlich hinter allem. Tja, und damit man erst recht verwirrt ist, ist eine der Personen, die man erst mal verdächtigt, am allerunschuldigsten. (Ehrlich Dan Brown: deine Romane bilden durch ihre Klischees fast eine Art Subgenre des Thrillers. Ich frage mich allerdings, warum Langdon nie misstrauischer wird, nach allem was er nisher schon erlebt hat) Und genau da kommt das Problem: Bei allen anderen Büchern wollte man es nicht glauben, aber nur weil es die Wahrheit, an der man beim Lesen des Buches bisher geglaubt hatte, zerstört. Diesmal war diese überraschende Wende einfach so unglaubwürdig (Das ist sie immer ein bisschen, aber diesmal war es einfach nicht zu toppen) dass ich eigentlich verwirrt und mit Fragen zurückblieb, die einfach nicht geklärt wurden, obwohl sie mir eigentlich noch die ganze Zeit im Sinn blieben. Das Dan Brown einen an der Nase herumführt, ist normal, das war auch diese Mal wieder interessant, mit welchen Mitteln er das geschafft hat. Aber hat er geglaubt, das könnte sich erledigen, wenn er die Handlung weitertreibt, und dabei einige Handlungsabschnitte auf der Strecke liegen lässt, die auch am Schluss, als sich alles wendet, nur vage erklärt werden? Manche Motive bestimmter Personen blieben mir dadurch die ganze Zeit einfach schleierhaft.

In the thrillers of Dan Brown there's always a surprising twist. And as always exactly that person you trusted most behind everything. So, and to puzzle you even more, one of the people you actually distrusted is the most innocent. (Honestly Dan Brown: Yout novels are through their chlichés almost a subgenre of the thriller. But I wonder, why Langdon never gets more distrusting, after everything that happened to him) And exactly there's the problem: In all the other books you only didn't want to believe it, but only because it destroyed the truth you had believed all the time. This time the surprizing twist was so unbelievable (It's always a bit unbelievable, but this time it couldn't have been topped.) that I was left behind puzzled with a lot of questions, which hadn't been explained, even though I had them in my mind all the time. It's usual, that Dan Brown gives you a runaround, it was again interesting how he did it. But did he believe, that would work on it's own, if just spured on the plot, let some of the plotlines fall by the wayside and even in the ending only explain them vaguely? Some reason of particular characters were incomprehensible all the time to me.

Also, wir wollen mal nicht so sein? Ich finde, es gibt einfach zu viele Handlungslücken, die ich nicht verstanden habe und auch wenn die Figuren wie immer interessant waren (Alle so gutaussehend, sportlich und intelligent wie alle Figuren von Dan Brown) fand ich eigentlich, dass die gesamte Wendung zwar thematisch richtig war, aber die ganze Spannung rausgenommen hatte und spätestens als der Menschheit doch keine Inferno drohte (Spoiler, aber was soll's) war ich einfach nicht mehr begeistert, denn ich fand, so gefährlich war alles nicht. Ja, die Aussage kann ich eigentlich verstehen. Aber spannend war's ab dem Zeitpunkt nicht mehr und auch nicht mehr ganz logisch.

So, shall we leave it at that? I think there are too many plot holes I didn't understood nd even though the characters where as usual interesting (all goodlooking, sporty and smart like all characters by Dan Brown) I actually found that the whole twist in the book was right by subject, but it took away the whole thrill and at the latest when there was no Inferno threathening humankind (Spoiler, but whatever) I wasn't excited anymore, because I didn't really think that it was dangeroud anymore. Yeah, I do understand the message. But it wasn't really thrilling from that point on.

"Septimus Heap -Magyk" -Angie Sage

Ich frage mich, ob es wirklich so eine gute Idee war, dieses Buch, das ich beim ersten Lesen so toll fand, noch einmal zu lesen. Vielleicht war es damals der Nebel draußen, das Feuer bei uns im Kamin und die Tatsache, dass ich krank war und das Buch komplett in einem Zug durchgelesen habe, jedenfalls war das Buch damals für mich ganz anders als jetzt und viel zauberhafter. Das ganze war weiterhin recht unterhaltsam und die Geschichte war immer noch schön, aber das, was mich mit zehn Jahren verzaubern konnte, hat leider nicht mehr gewirkt, was total Schade ist, aber nun gut, dann ist es eben so...

I wonder if it was a good idea to  reread this book I found so great the first time. Maybe it was the mist outside, the fire in our chimney and the fact that I was ill and read the book all at once, anyway, the book was very different to now and much more magical. Everything was still nice, but what enchanted me when I was ten didn't work anymore, which really is a pity, but well, that's that...

Trotzdem konnte es natürlich punkten. Was ich wieder so schön fand, war dass dieses Buch der Auftakt einer Serie ist und man es trotzdem einzeln lesen kann. Dann all die netten kleinen Witze, die trotzdem nicht die schönen Momente zerstört haben. Außerdem war die ganze Welt in der die Geschichte spielt wieder sehr schön. Sie hat einige Anleihen an andere Fantasyromane, auch ein bisschen Harry Potter da drin, aber insgesamt ist sie etwas eigenes. Nur die Verzauberung fehlt. Wie es eben kommt, wenn man älter wird, konnte mich eben nicht so viel and dem Buch begeistern.

Still it could score. It was really nice again that this book is, even though it's the begin of a series you can read it stand alone. Thean all these small jokes that still didn't destroy the beautiful moments. Also the world in which everything is set very pretty. It has some elements of Harry Potter in it, but altogether it is something on it's own. Just the enchantment is missing. How it develops, when you get older, not everything of the book could excite me.

Die Figuren waren alle interessant, aber nicht mehr so spannend, die Handlung war vorhersehbarer -naja, ich habe das Buch ja schon einmal gelesen... -und insgesamt habe ich gemerkt, dass ich zwar die Welt, in der die ganze Geschichte spielt immer noch interessant fand, aber nicht die Handlung selbst. Ich werde auf jeden Fall die anderen Bücher auch noch wieder lesen, aber wenn ich vor ein paar Jahren noch die volle Punktzahl vergeben hätte, reicht es eben nur noch für vier Delphine.

The characters where all interesting, but not fascinating anymore, the plot was predictable -well, I already read it once... -and altogether I realized, that I still find the world in which the whole story is set interesting, but not the plot itself. I'll reread the others books too, but where I'd have given full points a few years ago, it's only enough for four dolphins.
