The young couple was embarrassed. They became desperate of the cruelty of the city, which had no place for penniless people. Day by day the trekked around and begged at those people which were better off. The young man worked as a day laborer too, but there was no empty house he could have moved in, no dwelling which offered itself to them. Finally they moved in the smallest of all sheds at the seam of the city, where the poorest of the poor lived. It became an unhappy time. They had less to eat and couldn’t be happy together. Finally the young woman had enough. Her husband had given with his life and lived only for the money he became at the end of the day, just to survive one more day, but not to live. She left her husband and her son as well and went away by foot to travel to the next country. From then on, nobody cared about the little boy and he neglected. He affiliated to a gang of street children, which whom he strayed along the street, so he could live, because the shed at the city’s seam was to stay the night, but not to live. The boy learned how to steal, without being recognized. He learned to lie. He learned to mean, even to the innocent. The man however died. Nobody knew why, but the only to care about him where those who moved to the shed after his death, but nobody else.
Meanwhile the mother returned to the country she had come from. She met another man, whose wife had died and after a while they married. He brought with him a daughter to their matrimony, a little girl of the same age her son was.
